Overview

The Cesky Fousek is a gundog, also known as a hunting dog. They have been excellent assistants to hunters all the world over. Originating in the Czech Republic, this dog can withstand many differences in the weather, as well as changes in his surroundings. These dogs can move well in land and water.

Activity

As hunting dogs, the Cesky Fousek can become extremely agitated if their energy is left to build up. They are filled with a constant need to run and be free. If you are not a hunter, take them for a daily walk and give them a place where they can roam around, explore, and play.

Care

There are no major health concerns for the Cesky Fousek. The best thing that you can do to ensure that your dog is healthy is to feed him a good diet and make sure he gets plenty of exercise. This breed especially needs to be able to run around and expend energy.

Character

The Cesky Fousek is a fairly big dog with long thin legs. Their legs are perfectly made for running and hunting. They can easily keep pace with most of their prey. These dogs are often a white, brown, or grey color. The colors can also mix together, most commonly in a spotted pattern.

Coat

Cesky Fousek dogs shed a little more than average, but can be tended too with a weekly brushing. Their coats are mostly short, but they are longer around the tail and the head, where they have somewhat of a mustache. Their colors can change from solid grey, black, or brown colors to a spotted mixture of these colors.

Temperament

Cesky Fousek dogs are more often than not, very friendly. They can be normally wary of strangers, as most dogs are, but they are not naturally aggressive. They can be meaner towards small animals, so if you have smaller pets already, maintain a good distance between the Cesky Fousek and the smaller pet.

Training

Cesky Fouseks are not too reluctant to learn, but they can become more stubborn with age. Make sure to get them used to other dogs and people early on, and be positive that you get them started on a consistent training regimen. Deviation from a routine will cause the Fousek to become confused.
